Writing style

For classes that require actual news stories to be handed in:

The Associated Press Stylebook is to be used for all "live" stories in 04:567:324 News Reporting and Writing and 04:567:495:01 Investigative Reporting. You may buy the book at the Rutgers bookstore for about $12, or you may pay $25 for an online subscription to the stylebook. Click here for more information. Here is a professor's guide to the stylebook which contains some of the most important style elements. And here is an even more brief version.

For classes that require traditional written papers and use term-paper style:

All other assignments handed in for Media Ethics and Law (04:567:480) and Media Publishing and Design (04:567:385), should follow Modern Language Association (MLA) rules. You may access it online at the Purdue University site, and at the Bedford/St.Martin's site.

The actual book on MLA is called MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. and is available at the site of the publisher for less than $20. It should also be available at the Rutgers Libraries.
